Oh dear. You think there's a "Law Building"? Prepare for a big disappointment when you see the place. :)

The Law Department (along with the Mathematics Department) is in a yellow building called Aras na Laoi. In plain talk, it's a bit of a shithole - very small and cramped.

It's very easy to find once you're on the main campus.
Here's a map of the campus from the UCC website:

    http://www.ucc.ie/en/build/maps/CampusandAccessMaps/Large,38289,en.jpg

Print this off and bring it with you. Probably isn't much help now but when you're on campus it'll be easy enough to follow. If you get lost, I'd imagine most students will be able to point you in the right direction so just ask.

And if it's any help, here's the Law Department's site:

I like the building, it's nice and old.

Finding Aras na Laoi is pretty easy. At the back of the Kane building (which is the big ugly Science building and hard to miss, it's at the opposite side of the campus to the Student Centre which is another easy to find building) is a road. Across that road, directly in front of you are two buildings, one is very big and newish and is the Food science building and the other is a smaller three story building which is Aras na Laoi. There are multiple departments in the building (Maths, Law, Applied Maths, Economics and Statistics) but it's fairly easy to navigate since they paint the doors a different colour for different departments. Blue for Maths, Stats and Applied Maths, Green for Law and Economics if I recall correctly.

Is commerce done in O Rahilly?

Im doing commerce and chinese which is both commerce and arts courses, does that mean I'll be in two different buildings?

If so where is arts done?

Languages are a mix of the Boole Basement lecture theatres and in the O Rahilly. No clue about Commerce.

You'll be in multiple buildings normally for most undergraduate courses.

The Maths Department is actually moving to the new building where the old dog track was. So as far as i know, Aras na laoi will turn into the Law Building.

Oh really? When will that be completed, do you know? Where is the dog track, is it far from campus? Where did you find out?

Sorry for bombarding you with questions but I'm a Maths student (math & phys) and will probably be there a lot. :)

Oh really? When will that be completed,

The "Western Gate Complex" (formerly known as the IT building) is scheduled for handover to UCC in mid January 2009, with all classes and full operation ready for start of term September/October '09.

It's about a 10 minute walk from UCC main campus, either down through Castlewhite, onto Western road, past what's left of the Western Star, or college road, down the back of the Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, across a new pedestrian footbridge (not built yet).

I was told they are planning a move out too.

75% of them are in the villas next to castlewhite already.

I hadn't heard about Economics moving. Maths are definitely moving, I heard it from one of my friends lecturing there.

Maths yes, I've seen their allocations on the plans (they got some lovely offices for themselves).
Economics I've not seen on the plans anywhere - but that's not to say it's not possible. There will be plenty of space in the building - sorry - "complex".

/edit - just checked an old copy of the plans I have. maths lecturers and profs will have offices on the ground and first floors, with computer labs inside the main entrance on the left on the ground floor. most of these offices will overlook the river. so inside and to the left basically.

teaching labs and lecture halls back onto the western road, or inside and right, effectively.

anyone in UCC can pm me if they really can't wait to see the outline of the building, they can pop up and check out the
    outdated plans I have.
