How does Three.ie block access to some sites?

    Hi
    I have a Three.ie mobile
    I have a web server running on my PC at home
    I can access this web site using Opera Mini, but I can not access the same web site using the web browsers which came loaded on the phone

    I have played around using different ports for the web server, with the same result

    Any idea how this specific web site blocking is controlled?
    It doesn't apear to be Port based. It must be something to do with the IP address

    As far as I know they use a kind of "white list" of aproved sites.

    If the site you are trying to access is not on their white list then you are blocked from going there.

    Any requests to contact a website with opera mini show you as connecting to the opera server. The only way around this for three would be to block opera i think.

    If its a 3pay account you need it get it age verified in a 3store (provided your over 18) this will give you full access, if its a bill phone all sites should be available.

    On a three phone, their proxy would be configured in the handset software.
    With Opera however, you're just using an APN to connect which is probably an open APN so you can access anything.

    Wrong, you can't get into any adult sites even if your age verified...

    Just going to see can I get to red tube with opera mini....that's the real test.....

    Success but how do I get flash to work in opera so I can see the videos????

    Before anyone gets the wrong idea I won't be spending the day watching porn on my phone, it's just one of those things that's allways bugged me about 3, if i'm paying for mobile internet I want it all, let me decide what's suitable not them...

    What's your handset type? Make/Model. you should be able to get a flash player for the latest nok's I believe.
