New Jacket Query

    Hi Everybody,

I'll be in the market for a new jacket soon. The jacket I have at the moment is an off the shelf job, it fits me grand across the shoulders, the bottom of the jacket is very loose, the upper arms are tight and thats only wearing a T shirt under neath, I only shoot prone so when I'm in position it kind of bubbles up at the back.
So my question is this, should I spend the extra few quid and buy something made to measure? Anyone any advise regarding buying made to measure jackets?

I got a made-to-measure Kurt Thune jacket made and it's really comfy. It doesn't ride up or have excess fabric anywhere. It's still quite stiff so I don't know what it'll be like when it's softer but right now it's great. A little tricky to get down into position when you can't bend fully at the waist. :)

If you do go for it, it's worth while getting measured by someone who knows what they're doing. It's easy enough to get wrong, even if you're careful.

If you're only going to be shooting prone, a prone-only jacket is quite nice since the arms are cut to be properly fitted when you're in position and there shouldn't be any loose fabric in the shoulders. This is quite cool but it makes you walk like a zombie when you're walking around in it. :) Be careful though since apparently prone-specific jackets can be tough to get through equipment control at proper ISSF competitions. I haven't gone through equipment control with it, so I don't know what the score is yet.

I'll be at the nationals on Sunday, so if you're there feel free to come and have a look at the jacket and if you're the same size or smaller than me you can try it on to see why it's like.
