Was registering for an account on eflow.ie and when you come to the part where you enter your reg, it pauses after you put it in, and hey presto, up comes your make, model and colour of your car!

Are agencies allowed to exchange info like this among themselves? Also whats the best option for occasional users of the M50? Was thinking of the €2.50 video plate one. There is no monthly charge like for the tag option I presume?

Interesting Data Protection issues there, what happens if you have just bought the car as in today ????

Glacaim leis gur féidir na sonrái a chuir isteach agus a leasú más gá trí mheán na Gaeilge !!!!!

Well, the driving licence database seems to have problems with details in Irish. From what I hear, the county comes out listed in English.

On that topic, are the regsitration and licensing records kept on the same database? If they are, does eflow have access too?

www.cartell.ie has this information for a year or 2, simply put in any reg and it will tell you the make, model and cc of the car.

It only give the make/model/colour so if one had just purchased it today, these details should be clear.

Not sure if this would be considered personal info...

A much more interesting (and dangerous) defect is the NCT web site.

To book your NCT, all one needs is the Reg No of the car, and the date it was first registered, but it is safe to assume the cars numberically just above and below yours were registered on the same day, or maybe next/previous

So when i was booking mine recently, i accidently transposed the last two digits of the reg, and it showed me the name and owner of another car.

This person lived in the sunny south east, and i could have booked him an NCT for the next day on Donegal, if i had a evil mind.

I chose video reg, post-pay. It costs 0.5 extra each time you go through but if you go through less than 24 times a year (12 round trips) it is cheaper than then 12 euro extra a year a tag costs.

Also you only pay if they can read your front reg ;)
If you have tag they will read tag and be able to charge you even if your reg could not be read properly.

I also registered the max 5 vehicles on the one video account for no extra which means my parents and others who use it once in a blue moon doon't have to register and they use my credit card and balance.

It also has the benefit I can see when my girlfriend's car has passed thro the bridge so if she is cheating on me it'll have to be someone on the south-side or she will get caught!
