Photoshop font samples

Couldn't think of a better place to find some photoshop experts but if there's a better forum please move.

I have photoshop 6 (not exactly sure) at work and that has samples of all the fonts next to the name of the font in the drop down menu on the text tool. I have photoshop cs here at home but that has no samples. How do I turn that feature on, or is it an addon?

Try this, click edit, go down to preferences, a sub menu should appear, go in to type and select the box that says Font preview size.

    That should be it.

There is no type sub menu under preferences. I've gone through the prefferences over and over and can't see anything that might turn it on.

Snap to isn't working either. I've tried turning it on and off but nothing.

I'm going by CS2 maybe its different in other versions.

If you go in to preferences does it look like this,
    ps1.jpg
If it does, click where its highlighted and see if "Type" is in the dropdown menu.
If it is go in to it and tick the the box highlighted here,
    ps2.jpg

If none of this works then I'm afraid I can't help ya.
