i'll admit i have fairly limited knowledge on how google returns it's search results based on search string.

A company i done a nixer for rang me and said that when they google their name they get 7 pages of results. 6 of which are in some shape or form related to the company name and don't tarnish it, but the 7th page contains links to porn sites and poker sites among what else, they are a fabric wholesale company and in no way related to these.

at the moment there is just a splash plage up and running for their website with contact details and what not.

is there anyway for myself to alter these returned results? or even report to google? as you'd know yourself it wouldn't look too good for business.

Without knowing what the search term is etc., it's hard to give concrete advice, but you*could* report spam in the index

Why are they so concerned with page 7? Are they on page 8 or something? :)

    I don't understand the problem...

Why would anyone go to page 7 in the first place....

Surely they cant expect to get 100% relevant results.

Once you're ranking no.1 for the term, i can't see the problem.

The user ultimately decides, based on description and url, if they want to go to a site or not.

You can't eliminate other results because you don't like them... You've done your job by getting them to no.1, anything else is out of your hands...

For a keyword that specific normal users won't go past the first page.
