Looking to see if people have had any experience Local Area Plans (LAP) over the past few years wrt -

    1) - Specific impact to one-off planning
    2) - Impact on overall local community and town / village
    3) - Hands-on experience in dealing with the local authorities in the generation and implementation of the LAP.

I've had some interaction in Limerick and one specific LAP has succeeded in driving the local authority to include a requirement that prevents residential development from continuing beyond the "first phase" (of three phases) until the first phase is 50% complete (standard stuff) and several acres of land suitable for open space and local amenity have been provided and handed over to the local community.
It's believed that this is a 'ground-breaking' requirement and I'm looking to see if anyone else has experience of dealing with Local Area Plans.
