    Hey,

This actually happened about a month ago but I haven't really done anything with it so far cos I've been busy with studying (repeats grr).

Basically, I was using my laptop as normal when my screen just turned off. I thought the laptop had but it was just the screen. I restarted the laptop once and the Windows loading screen appeared, but anything after that didn't.

I restarted again and it worked fine.

Then when I closed my laptop (you may frown on this, but I never shut down my laptop, just close it to put it in standby/hibernate) and opened it later I had nothing... I left it be and a few days later came back and noticed I could see a very faint image of what was onscreen. I just about managed to log into Windows and opened a file I needed but long term use was impossible.

I've been told the bulb (?) might be gone but I didn't think this would apply to laptops... When I rang a computer repairs place on Augnier street they mentioned something along those lines and said it'd cost €100-€150 to repair and take up to a few weeks.

    Your advice is much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    ish.

Sounds like either the inverter or the backlight has failed. That price sounds about right, sorry to say.

Moved from Comp and Tech. By the sounds of it ethernet and yer man in the shop would be correct.
