Hi guys, I cant for some reason get a gps lock with my new N95 8GB even with the numerical keypad open and in broad daylight outside (Not in a car)
    running latest version of firmware.
Left it for 1 minute on nokia maps in satellite status, got 4 empty bars
Garmin Mobile XT says it cant get a gps signal(It does detect the GPS receiver though)

    Any ideas?

Id say leave it on your dashboard for 5 minutes or so, just in case its slow on picking up the sats. That should narrow down your possible problems. I know somedays mine can take a while to lock on.

Also if you go into the signal strength section in Garmin XT and push the middle button on the keypad this will bring up more info on your reception. It shows the location of all the visable sats and the strength of each connection.

    Hope this helps

amazing the moment i sat in the car (didnt get a signal while i was on foot for some odd reason) it got a full signal and perfect lock.
Garmin got me lost though with its voice nav it kept saying take a left then a left on the m50 when the "left" was just a curve on the road

gonna quickly hijack this thread. just got an N95 8GB and trying to use Nokia Maps.
Every time I try to do a navigation it's asking me to purchase more navigation software. Does the basic nokia maps not provide any navigation?

I already have a sat nav so not paying 60 quid to purchase this software, still I'd like to have it working.

    Thanks

Nokia Maps works, in that it shows you where you are. Navigation options are 60e for a 3 year license.
