Nothing more romantic than pushing a car that has sunk to the axles in the sand. I would walk to the beach.

just bring her to the restaurant, it'll probably be raining anyway

She's expecting food, make sure there's food!

You could take here to the Urban Beach!, probably not that intimate or romantic.

The weather right now is a little unpredicatable, so best to plan for something that could be indoors.

You could run with the beach idea, and get a nice picnic made up and have a stroll out on the water afterwards.

Are you staying up Weds night in Dublin?

    Hi folks,
Well firstly drink and driving ain't on the list of things to do.

We have a jeep and we love being on the beach at night time.. we could open the back door and just sit in the back.

We willstillbe going for something to eat but this isthe after math.

WE have a 5 month old baby girl and ain;t had much 'us' time along with other pressures we have been put under.

Were not staying in dublin that night . But who cares what time we get home. Justwant time to ourselves.

    thanks for you suggestions..

    Please keep them coming.

    Restaurant FTW.

    1. Its Warmer
    2. Its Dryer
    3. Warm food
    4. You wont get sand everywhere
    5. Your jeep wont sink outside a restaurant
    6. Candle lit
    7. Nice background music

    and so on....

Still.. It doesnt beat being outside the sound of the sea, the privacy the fun, etc etc...

We ARE going to a restraunt but want to do something special afterwards.

    Naggins???

Ok maybe not, hmmm do you want to go to a beach in Dublin??

Why don't you go camping? There are a few camp sites down in Wicklow near the sea ..... take her out for a nice meal, then you can sit on the beach with a blanket and some wine (and you could drink too this time!) - if its raining, there is nothing nicer than being inside a tent anyway!

Do you actually want to drive on the beach? If yu just want to be beside it then malahide beach is great. Park in the car park right beside the dunes, you could do everything beachy without the threat of getting stuck!

    Dollymount beach :p

Seriously though you could try Sutton beach. You can't drive onto it but it's a 20m walk to get onto it, nice view and lots of dune to shelter if there's wind.

Well as i said were eating in dublin.. we both work in newbridge so its only a stone throw away.. as for driving we both enjoy it and love going on lil road trips.. to get home to carlow from north dublin is only an hour and a half

The problem is though any beach you can drive onto e.g Dollymount will generally be the least romantic place, unless you want to watch people riding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,597 ✭✭✭anniehoo

You would literally be maybe 10m away from the sand, when you're in your car you feel like you're on it as the car is parked right up to the grassy dune bit..

Given the recent weather I don't know if this so whise, also I understand you wanting to spend time with her, but if it does rain to the two of you really want to be sitting in a car for a few hours? It's not the most comfortable of places.
