Hi all, I used to build houses years ago, i see all these changes to building regulations for the Ber certs, all good i might add. I'm curious to what sort of u-values wall and ceilings had when i was building. We mostly built 4inch block with 2inch insulation in a 4inch cavity and another 4inch block. Most houses were insulated at ceiling level with the build up being 5inch joist with 4inch fiberglass insulation and 1/2 plasterboard.

    Walls - 0.44
    Ceiling - 0.45
(Bet there was nothing in the floor?)
(Would have been std spec up to around 2000/2002)

Thanks ardara1. Up until mid 80's we would not have put anything in the floor just hardcore concrete and screed. Between mid 80's and 1990 insulation was introduced (2inch). I never installed a radon barrier not sure when that came about.
