    basically , i still have one of my baby teeth, as the ortho explained my adult tooth is in my gum and never came down properly, he wants to do an operation to make the tooth in my gum come down properly through a hole and then use braces for maybe 2 years to let the tooth come down through the hole....

    basically i really really dont want to have braces fitted (i know so many people will think im stupid for this) but this is just really worrying me...... does anyone have any advice?

    leave things as they are?
    extract the baby tooth and replace with a bridge or implant?(if space allows)
    what are you worrying about?

    the baby tooth is not going to last much longer and i cant be going around with a gap at my age!! how do implants work?? dont like the idea of having a false tooth unless it just sits in, dont want to have a permanent bridge/plate in my mouth

    Hey, I had the same problem. I had a baby tooth that held on until i was 17!!The dentist took it out.Although i didnt want him to coz it wud leave a gap!!He then told me i would need braces because the adult tooth had no room to fit.

    I just left it!!My teeth got moved around so much because of this. Even at the bottom. Im now 23 and have gotten the braces anwish i had of listened to my dentist when i was 17 and just got it sorted!!

    I dont mind having the braces. I can see the teeth moving which makes it worthwhile. I where you id listen to your dentist and get them started quiclky.

    Leaving your teeth might make them worse, sorry,but im speaking from experience!!My teeth werent that bad until the baby tooth came out!!

    thanks, thats what im afraid of too, i just wanted to research it first to see if there was anyway around it before i take on the braces!!! :)
