I'm a bit confused with all of the information out there - if I want to go and teach English overseas for a year or two, what level of qualification would I need?

I don't have any teaching experience, but I do have a degree in business studies.

Get in touch with the companies offerin the overseas jobs. A lot of them provide the training to start you off.
A mate is over on one of these teaching abroad yokies and thats how he did it.
There are a lot of TEFL courses available.

Thank you to the good Dr. for the quick reply!

Who did your mate do the course with? Is there somewhere in Ireland where you can attend a course?

AFAIK there are loads of places where you can do night courses in TEFL.
I would say await responses from others that have actually done it and you will find it fair easy to get one.

I have been thinking of doing this for a while now and have been looking at the following for information regarding courses and jobs.
    www.i-to-i.com
    www.teflireland.com
    www.teflcompany.com
    www.tigerenglish.com

I'm currently looking into doing a CELTA course in Barcelona. Its a 4 week intensive course which apparently is alot of hard work, but once you get the qualification you can teach english abroad. Some places seem alot harder to get work than others. I intend to do a bit of travelling and teach in a few different places. Would be a good experience while I decide what to do with my life, but don't expect to make a fortune.
