    Hey hey,

It's been seven hours and 42 days... since a SiSi night in the Cellar. The venue was closed for infectious disease-testing when we were last scheduled to play, but normal service resumes this week with one half of SiSi... the Irish-speaking half.

Much has happened since the last Cellar gig. The wee bairns are off from school, the weather has turned and we're knee-deep in a recession. Which reminds me, if you're feeling the pinch and still want to go clubbing, email badger [at] sisi.tv for concessions.

I spent last Saturday at ******, an afternoon gig in the B-Bar, which was hopping all evening. Walking around the back-stage area, I found a scrap of paper floating around the breeze, with the following info:

    - 10 oz of Conamara Cornflakes

    - 100 speckled doves

    - 50 tabs of acid

    - 18 oz skunk

    - 9 oz Indian hash

    - 1 bottle of Chivaz Regal Whiskey

    - 400 JP Blues

    - 20 large green rizla

    - 20 rolls of toilet paper

    - 20 packs of chewing gum

    Wonder who's rider this was?

In other news, I'll be launching my new An Taobh Tuathail Vol 2 CD in August, with gigs in Dublin, Galway, Limerick & Cork. Will send out a separate email with all the details of the line-up in due course, but all the info is available on http://www.myspace.com/antaobhtuathail

If you don't have tickets for Electric Picnic, worry not, cos on Saturday 30th August, we'll be hosting the mighty Housemeister from Berlin in the Cellar. He's currently touring Europe, promoting his new CD Who Is That Noize?, and if his last gig for us is anything to go by (he played 110th Street in the Vic last year), this one will be off the hook. And if you don't believe me, try this for size http://www.sisi.tv/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=355

"Ah - those were the days"... said the barman to his only customer.

    See you Saturday!

    An Stiurthóir x

TEN WAYS TO FORGET THE RECESSION
    _________________________________________________

1/ Italoboys & John Coltrane – Bahia (Party Swing) / Mothership
One of the party records of the summer on Claude Von Stroke's more experimental label, this one switches gears a few times from 4/4 peaktime banger to free-style jazz swing.

    2/ Monika Kruse – Mohana / Terminal M
A solid gold end of nighter, where an euphoric Latino vocal takes over from the opening techno pulse, custom designed to get those hands in the air.

3/ Modeselektor feat Thom Yorke - The White Flash (Trentemoller Rmx) / BPitch Control
Melancholic techno with plenty of heart.

4/ Underworld – Ring Road (Kris Menace Remix) / Underworld
Have received curious emails to the radio show about this one all summer, quite simply a banger with echoes of early Vitalic.

5/ Guy Gerber - Disorientation (Johnny D Mix) / Supplement Facts
Jacking house for the heart of a Saturday night.

    6/ Photonz – Trembler / Dirty
Akin to Riton producing a wonky remix for My Bloody Valentine, this one has them smiling all the way out to Moycullen.

7/ Jennifer Cardini & Shonky – Tuesday Paronoia (Jamie Jones Remix) / Crosstown Rebels
A record that only makes sense on a loud system, it's nuances gradually ensares the dancer into its web and the breakdown, when it comes, is worth waiting for.

8/ Kaspar Bjorke – Doesn’t Matter (Jack Schidt Dub) / Plant
Quite a dark direction from NYC's Plant crew but when the tune is this good, nobody's complaining.

9/ Radio Slave - Grindhouse (Dubfire Remix) / Rekids
Takes no prisoners, flattens everything in its wake, kinda like a techno version of semtex.

    10/ Laurent Garnier – Panoramamix / Innervisions
The flipside to Garnier's recent comeback single is a shimmering paeon to Panoramabar, which is at the heart of Berlin's hedonistic nightlife. This record has a timeless feel and not a second of it's 11 minute duration feels pompous or overwrought.
