Looking Windows Vista Anti Virus and firewall software.

    I built a new gaming rig with Vista on it and I am just wondering could anyone recommend a good antivirus and firewall program. On my XP machine I run F-secure which I actually love as it has both a firewall and antivirus but it a tad bit heaving on system resources. (I think it has 9 processes running).

    I might end up going with the new f-secure as I know its reliable and I have used it before but don’t want to fork out some money before I get other input.

    I was looking at Sana Security (http://www.sanasecurity.com/) as it was recommend for gamers as it uses less recourses. Anyone used this. It doesn’t have a fire wall though.

    I assume you also have a NAT router firewall? A software firewall running on your PC is not really effective, because any malware on your PC can potentially get past it/disable it/switch it off. While these risks appear to be reduced in Vista (assuming one has not disabled UAC), who knows what weaknesses are waiting to be exploited in Vista?

    A NAT firewall running in stealth mode (eg Netgear) + Vista with UAC and the Vista firewall, and Windowsupdate is probably all you need. Unless you can't resist opening email attachments and don't keep your applications software patched for security updates.
