    Did you buy it?

If so would be interested in a Product Review.

I used this on my 5d and after 3 tries following the instructions to the letter I gave up.

    1 out of 5 :(

I ended up giving it into Conn's and they did it for €50, ended up spotless for my Wedding that weekend. :)

I bought a sensor cleaner kit from Gunns today. Made by a company called Just Ltd. I'm happy enough with the results.

I got the same kit in Gunns. Didn't work very well. I only used one stroke on the sensor. Would I damage it if I went over and back with the swab a few times on it for stubborn dirt?

I cleaned the sensor and the lens but the specs still remain. What else should I clean? I used the air pump as well but made no difference. Is it possible the mirror is dirty as well?

Right... this is my opinion, don't blame me if it breaks your sensors...

The sensors in the camera are a lot tougher than is often made out... You can give the sensor a fair cleaning. I use a similar set up to the one the OP bought, I'll usually use both sides of the swab twice, but before I start, I make sure to hold the camera upside down, and blast some air in there.

With the 5D, you've got to give the sensor some extra going over - the full frame swabs are not the full size of the sensor, corners and edges need some extra cleaning.

anyone ever heard of the protective glass being cracked??My 300D(quiet old now) has this weird line like a smear going across one 3(lenght wyas ) across the sensor near the top and i have a sensor pen cheap jessops thing and it wont even get rid of any of it

I bought the V swabs and fluid at the site below and it did an excellent job on my 5D. I just don't trust giving my camera to somebody else to clean.
I also bought the arctic butterfly brush and a loupe. Great service and quick delivery. They have an ebay shop as well.
They threw in a big blower and a lens cloth free.

I dealt with Miranda, sales@westcoastcameras.com, she gave me a quote and sent me a paypal invoice for the goods.

What you say is correct. The sensor is actually quite delicate, but technically we are not cleaning the sensor, it's the Filter over the sensor. So it's basically a piece of filter glass. We had a talk at DCC earlier this year about cleaning. The points (that I remember) are that you have to be careful of grit as it can scratch the filter. Do not use the Canned Air as it will get cold in a spot & that can affect the sensor underneath the Filter Glass & damage it.
