True... but 89c is a bit steep, go to tesco and buy a multi pack...much cheaper!

As said above, multi-pack FTW. Got a multipack of Meanies (10 packs I think) for something like €1.52 the last day

It's years since I bought a single bag of crisps but I would have thought they were about 40c. 89c is mental.
They will always be 2d to me.

Each packet in a multi-pack has a lower weight of crisps though.

    Make your own Tayto:

Make your own potato chips using your microwave. A tasty and easy alternative to store-bought potato chips (not to mention economical)!

    INGREDIENTS
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 potato, sliced paper thin (peel optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
    DIRECTIONS
Pour the vegetable oil into a plastic bag (a produce bag works well). Add the potato slices, and shake to coat.
Coat a large dinner plate lightly with oil or cooking spray. Arrange potato slices in a single layer on the dish.
Cook in the microwave for 3 to 5 minutes, or until lightly browned (if not browned, they will not become crisp). Times will vary depending on the power of your microwave. Remove chips from plate, and toss with salt (or other seasonings). Let cool. Repeat process with the remaining potato slices. You will not need to keep oiling the plate.

    Enjoy.

... thats how the Zimbabwe'ans make em anyways. You know they can't be affording d'tayto.

Cravings or not, you were silly to take them at that price. Moreso you abolished your right to complain by doing so! The people behind the counter might not care that you go "HOW MUCH??" and throw them back in their face (one cheeky fecker asked me to put them back on the shelf!) but as long as people pay extortionate prices, the shops will continue to charge more.

unreggd, you've got it spot on.

    It is what it's.

Yeah seriously...it's €1.65 in Dunnes/Tesco/Superquinn. Didn't there used to be a set RRP on items like milk that had to be stuck to? Did the abolition of the groceries act do away with that?

Additionally I picked up 28 packets of Walkers cheese n onion for 4 quid yesterday evening...even if you consider that a multipack bag is about half the net weight of single pack, that's still 14-16 packets of artery hardening goodness for the same cost as less than 5 of the tayto.
I do recall being extremely peeved after picking up a pack of Hunky Dory's Spring Onion and the Centra girl asking me for 95c for them...they promptly went back in their shelfspace.

Shops charging these prices are going to be some of the first victims of the current slowdown...personally I say f*ck em...feel sorry for anyone loosing their job over it though...
