I have a recollection of a service from eircom where you can have text messages sent to a land line "read out" where the land line handset does not have SMS functionality. Does anybody know how to avail of this or is it gone? As an aside, does SMS need to be enabled on the land line first?

If you have voicemail set up (171 jobbie) on your landline (need to call eircom with account number when I last did it as it's an extra service). Then, whenever you are sent a text, it is stored as a voicemail and read out when you check your messages.

But unfortunately there is no alert to let the landline know a message has arrived.. just the altered dial-tone when they pick up the hand piece, or turn on the speaker.

    🧐IMHO, God wants us all to ENJOY many,many ice-creams , 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦
