i turned the tv on today and a screen popped up saying ''system software update in progress'' ''total update time will be approx. 10 minutes''

theres a meter that goes from 0-100% but its staying at 0 and the screen goes black occasionally and it trys to start again.

seeing as i dont use it for watching tv i only have it hooked up to the old terrestrial arial, i dont know whether or not it would work if i brought it down and connected it to the sky box downstairs,

can anybody shed some light on this situation? any help is much appreciated

    thanks

    According to the Philips website..

The problem can be solved by re-loading the software to the TV set that is made available on the Philips consumer support website. Please refer to your user manual on how to upgrade your software.

What model is the TV and i'll try get more info for you.

    Didn't see your original post!

Are you sure you are not in digital tuner mode? Above the cursor keys on the remote are the TV and DIGITAL buttons.
By pressing the DIGITAL button you are selecting the digital tuner in the TV rather than the traditional analogue tuner.
The digital tuner may ask for periodic updates and look for these "over the air"?
Without actually being in front of the TV it is hard to know but thats my best guess.
If you cannot get it sorted by selecting the TV tuner then I would suggest you contact Philips support number in Ireland on 01 6011777 and see if they can sort it for you.

    Hope that helps.
