Hi, I'm thinking of picking one of these up so can anyone answer these few queries regarding the new iphone:

    - is the GPS function exactly the same as a sat nav you might have in your car, i.e. does it cost anything?
    - if i have wifi at home, will data automatically go up/down the wifi route or will it use part of the 1gb inclusive date.
    - i would be using data for emails (sometimes large 1mb files), some internet browsing and gps use. would i even get near using the 1gb data limit?
    - anyone use one for business use? currently have a htc s730 and find it absolutely brilliant but the iphone has caught my eye.
    - any place i could trade in a phone or a good place to sell privately?
    - does the iphone sync with microsoft outlook?

    Thanks for your help!

Not too sure about the iphone questions but adverts.ie or buyandsell might be a place to sell your phone.
    Or ebay i suppose.

Regarding the wifi- if you're connected to the wifi network, obviously it won't come out of your 1gb data bundle.
You'll be paying for your own wifi (eircom etc)if you're using your wifi network at home (or not if you connect at a free hotspot- McDonalds/libraries etc).
Just make sure your phone connects to the wifi network, not 3g/gprs.

About the iphone's gps, not sure tbh- think it might be subscription-basedfor voice and the usual restrictions with 3rd party satnav sh1te (dunno any 3rd party satnav vendors for iphone tbh, so maybe it's just a glorified googlemaps job)but others here should confirm that.

1gb imo should be ok for browsing and email.
Others might disagree- if you're streaming Youtube etc regularly it wouldn't be really.

    thanks mkennedy.

nah, not really into the whole youtube on the go thing. at home, on a full size laptop, maybe, but primarily looking at this as a business phone.
plus, my old ipod is about to give up the ghost so would be handy to have everything in one.

anyone know if ms outlook sync with iphone directly?
anyone out there intend to use it as a business phone?

also, is it possible to use your upgrade to bring the cost of the handset down?

    thanks again! :)

syncs with outlook with no problems. Got my 16gb iphone 3g for €169 on a gold upgrade on the €45 a month plan.

specifically, does it sync your outlook email to the iphone or just the calendar and contacts?

Emails, Calendar and Contacts. Even a glancing look at the iPhone features page on apple.com would have told you that.

The battery is woeful however, be warned. My one requires near daily charges.
