MAYO'S LARGEST POKER TOURNAMENT (report from Winstons Poker)

OK, first order of business was find out the Boardies to buy them a drink, and i met Len “fatboydim” the nicest man you could ever meet, also went down to promote the Ladbrokes Killarney Fest and gave out lots of goodie's, the response was positive with lots of players looking forward to October (including myself)
So heres how it went, the venue is great with plenty of room and drinks staff on hand, and they put up a good spread of food at the break. They have put some costs into starting a poker night so they might have to go with a reg from now on, its not much, €20 buy in with €2 reg which is still good value and i don't think players would mind paying a €2 reg if its good poker night.
The structure we went with was a bit to fast, but i have advised them on a blind schedule that might go better, it will have more play segments at the start and in the middle, which will see a lot more game play, this dos not say it will turn into a crap shoot near the end, i have told the TF that if this happens, to pause the clock, or replay a level.
The “unlimited re buys up to the break” was a bit mad, and ended up with a lot of chips on the tables near the end of the tournament, so this is going to be changed to 2 re buys, or 1 re buy and 1 top up, so with this in mind and the new blind schedule i have no doubt that this is going to be a good regular poker night in Castlebar (Mayo).
I had a meeting with them on the Saturday to talk about the tournament and gave them some good ideas like, loyalty bonus, league games, added prizes, etc, etc, (and a satellite for Killarney).
There is not many poker tournaments in Mayo, that has some excellent poker players so i know they will do things right like 100% pay out, everything transparent, and so on.

I wish them well for the future and i hope to see them again soon.

Many thanks to Pat Jennings at the TF for his hospitality.

PS: This Poker Tournament will get better and better as time gos on.
