Keep your money in your pockets and do not invest in the stock market or spread betting firms.
Sentiment and confidence move the market and this is poor, market due to fall more in the coming months. House prices shall then replicate these falls.
Spread betting is too short term and a glich can cause your position to close without your confirmation necessary, i had my fingers burned once.
Coming into a recession you need 3 things
    1. A job
    2. A rental property
    3. A flexible attitude to where you live, transfer of labour.

Presumably you have very little conviction on this or you would be advocating shorting the market............

Agree with having stable income before exposing your money alright.

How about commodities? They seem to be on the way up...

Out of interest who are you and what 'information' and knowledge to you have to be posting this unsubstantiated 'advice' on here?

Seems to me that the OP got his fingers burnt on a trade and thus is taking the opinion that trading aint for him.

I thought one of the rules is dont get emotional when you trade.

    If you lose move on.

If you win, dont think you are the bees knees and start blowing all your money.
