    Hi,
I'm trying to get my paws on a PPC 2.7 or similar in the near future. My trusty old 533Mhz G4 is starting to get a bit slow, especially when there's video involved.
I need a computer with PCI or PCI-X slots hence looking for the older computer. I can't afford the €2,500 crossgrade to PCI-e cards!!

Does anybody have a suss on any dealers around who have the odd 2nd hand Mac coming through the door?

    Thanks.

    PS I've never owned a PC :D

    Thanks,
Looks quite steep for a 1.8Ghz. Nearly €500. No?

Someone on Adverts was selling a Dual 1.42 GHz G4 fully loaded Mirror Drive last week for a few hundred. Might be worth a look ?!

    Amazon has some great deals.
They change quiet often, and worth keeping an eye on.

    Priceless. WTF?

adverts is a hoot! "for sale €300" next it's "hi will you take a fiver?"

The G4's can only take 1gig of RAM though?
Prob hold off for a G5

Some Macs with G4 processors can only take 1GB (the eMac is one that I know, as my dad uses one), but the Power Mac towers can take 2GB, as Zener says.

Thanks for the heads up, Good site...
    I thought it was 1gB on my one I see it's actually 1.5gB. .

I'd like more than 2 really, video playback and virtual instruments etc. I could put dual 1.8Mhz chips into my own for around €300.

Currently I'm using G4, Ge-Force dual video and UW Scsi port with 10,000rpm drives. I need to have really smooth video with lots of audio edits and stuff so I can make sure sync is correct etc.
