How good was 'that 70's show'?

To be honest I only found out about the show at 2.30 am in 2004, as a 14 year old insomniac

Even though it finished two years later, I have managed to catch every episode from the previous six years. Personally I think it had so much brilliance with excellent not in your face comedy. Like how funny was the Red charachter? His constant commie bashing, his love hate relationship with his son, and his extreme nationalism just made for some great scenes.

I think it was just great, but i want other opinions and possible faults people found with it.

I thought it was an above average comedy, with consistently talented and energetic performances. I always used to make a point of watching it. It was better than a lot of sitcoms

Although, I can't recall any episode in particular. It all kind off blended together without any "remember the time when........" moments. That's not to say it was tedious just not especially memorable.

Ran out of stem towards the end a bit too

Great series, have bought some of it for people.

It's a funny series for three reasons: Topher Grace (Eric), Ashton Kutcher (Kelso) and Kurtwood Smith (Red).

Those were the three standout actors in the show.. whose comedic presence and timing improved as the show went on.

The rest of the actors and characters were largely hit-and-miss from the irritating and unfunny Wilder Valderrama (Fez) to the typically poor performances from Laura Prepon (Donna) and Mila Kunis (Jackie). Danny Masterson was very good usually though.

It was a very funny show in it's time.. but it did spawn the wildly unfunny 'That 80's Show'.

I thought the mother was usually very good in it as well.

the first five seasons were excellent, started on a steady downards slope after that but there were a few gems in the later seasons too.

The mother was so funny when she ate the "special cookies" :D ... couldn't handle it

My fav character had to be "red" ... almost everything was played off him and he was the strongest by far.

You can watch it on vodafone tv on your mobile ... great catching up on the old episodes

Great show alright. Anyone remember the English remake of it?
I think there were only a few episodes done though.

Great show alright, the one thing that annoyed me was the actress that played Donna was terrible, Bob her dad was great as well though!

Didnt they try to launch a That 80's Show?

I never saw the point of that 80's show. It seemed to be an unfunny clone of that 70's show, even the characters were similar. That 70's show was great though. I used to love watching it on network 2 at around 3 in the morning. It made late night channel surfing so enjoyable.

Red and Kitty were one of the best TV couples ever. The actors were fantastic.
Donna's parents were cool too - I loved Bob's afro :D And Midge (?) had a cool voice.

I always liked the characters of Eric, Hyde and Jackie - they were very good actors aswell.
Fez was annoying though, while Kelso was a bit too OTT and Donna was slightly dull (although she had her moments)

Actually one of the best characters was Erics sister Laurie, although I think she was only in one season.

Overall the show was one of the better sitcoms. If I'm flicking through TV channels and a repeat comes on I'd watch it again.

Really enjoyed the show! However, it was a big mistake carrying on without Eric and Kelso - that guy, Randy, that replaced them (and seemed to try to bring the two characters to be one) was awful in my opinion!

And, as said, That 80's Show....*shudder*

    🤪

yeah, they discovered around halfway through season 8 that no one liked randy so they started to write episodes without him, or with him having a very minor role. feel sorry for the guy, but he was just awful.

really did make for great tv viewing after a night out ... that and cheers at 3 and 4 in the morning

Funniest moment was when they were trying to get into Canada and the grilling by the mounties that ensued was comedic genius I thought

I thought they killed Randy off a few episodes into the 8th series. He fell off the water tower and died.

eta: My bad, that was Charlie.

The same water tower that Kelso fell off of?

That 70s show was essential viewing back in my college days..
Plus Mila Kunis aka Jackie...wow one of my all time faves 4 sure. What a hottie, despite the sqeaky voice on the show! Im sure she's not really like that!!!!

mila kunis was 14 in the first series of that 70's show... just in case anyone was thinking anything naughty.

also alot of the cast are scientologists now... ick

my favourite character was tommy chong's.. leo... i thought he was brilliant..

really enjoy that 70s show. ashton kutcher steals every scene he's in.

gonna go watch some when i get home from work!

Bob, Leo, Midge were all great characters. The first few seasons were excellent but as said above it went downhill, especially when Topher and Kutcher left the show and were replaced with those other people.

    Hated it, myself.

    +1

The jokes just seemed repeated over and over and over again. And always involved someone being called a "Dumbass".

Stupid show and even stupider now that they have replaced some of the original cast.

now that they have replaced some of the original cast.

It only lasted a season when Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher left, plus it finished 2 years ago.
