What does this mean in terms of connecting to Internet?

My friend's laptop is saying this when she tries to connect.

Any ideas on how to resolve it?

    Thanks

Your Network Card is set to acquire a DHCP address. It's supposed to happen but if it just continually does it there is a problem.

What Broadband provider are ye using?

She's just told me that they said it would be up an running yesterday (it's a new house, new connection). If I knew that I wouldn't have posted in the first place.

Maybe they're just late. She'll ring them on Monday.

    Thanks anyway.

Why not try explaing instead of posting a wiki link, people come on here to get help from posters not to be linked to an external site.

There's a lot of needless tech knowledge in articles that can be off putting to people that aren't as knowledgeable as yourself.

its how I learned the nitty gritty. Wikis great for providing both the short and long answer.

instead of criticizing another posters response you can provide one yourself ;)

/now, back to our regularly scheduled thread.
