Cable that came with Asus U6

I recently purchased and Asus U6 series laptop. What a lovely piece of kit! However it came with a cable that I have no idea what it's use is - sorta anyway. It seems to be a 7 pin male S-Video to female composite video cable, but the only video outputs on the laptop are VGA and HDMI. What's the point of having this in the box? :S

If any of you guys know I'd be greatful :)

Are you sure you don't have an s-video connection on the laptop. Most new ones I've seen have them.

I use a VGA out to my LCD and an s-video out to my tv.
After using the VGA out to the LCD, it sickens me to hook up the s-vid to composite. The picture is such a blur. where with the LCD I just have a massive massive monitor, with the tv it makes me cry trying to do anything other than watch something. Which is hard because you cant even see the menu items.
Kinda like using my xbox 360 thru the composite.

    Get which? A vga cable?
    In maplins surely.
Or what connectors are you looking for?

    I'm 100% positive.

Right side: Mic and Headphone, 1 USB, card reader.
Left side: DC in, 3 USB, 1 HDMI, PCI-Ex.
    Rear: VGA, NIC, Modem.

:S I'm well confused, it didn't come with any other adaptor, no VGA to s-vdeo or what not. Why in the world would they give me an s-video to composite cable? and 7 Pin at that!? :S

On another note, there's a SIM Card slot underneath the battery, but nothing in device manager. I assume I need a PCI 3G modem? Is it possible to get one that will work with 3?

download powerstrip free prog, use it to set resolution to tv,device out, 720x576 pal tv.Reboot pc, you may need to set refresh rate to 60mhz,this is for sdtv pal thru composite cable.SIM slot is prbly for 3g modem sim, from 02,or 3 telecom.on my laptop it gives a perfect picture ,for watching dvd s or vid casts .eg dltv.

Um what? Thanks :) But all I need to know is why they put it into the box with the laptop, I'll call or email them if need be, but thought someone here might know :)

hold onto cable,i think it may be 4 connecting pc card grahics, thru tv out to composite in.if you have a high res set on laptop eg 1000x768 you might even damage the tv,i presume its a standard tv.

It's randomly selected from threads that have been posted on in the previous day.
