Printer Connection Cables

When I treated myself to a shiny new laptop, I was disappointed to learn that I could no longer use my reliable old HP Deskjet 720C as the laptop does not have the right connection socket.
So, reluctant to throw out a good printer, I am transferring files for printing to an ancient PC that I hoarded for years. Slow and messy, but consistent with my wish to re-use rather than dump.
Is there any easier way? e.g. can I buy an adaptor cable socket / gadget to allow me connect the printer to the laptop?

There's an adaptor here that might fit the bill... whether or not the printer likes it is another question.
