I have a telecaster copy guitar. Bought it 2nd hand bot 4 year ago. But in the last year ive been having a problem. on the g and b string between the 7th and 9th fret. Both strings sound wierd, its hard to expailn. Could it be the nut thats causing them not to settle properly, will i gt a new one?

Sounds like the action on the strings needs to be set. A service from a guitar shop will sort it. Costs about 30 euro.

If you're interested in trying it yourself this link from the Musical resources section of this forum is helpful:- http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/pro1.htm
As regards trying it yourself, it's not hard. A Tele is designed more as a manufacturable product than a musical instrument - it is indestructible. Remember that even if it all goes wrong you would be no worse off than you are now since everything is reversible. All you would have to do is bring it in to a music shop for a set-up for €30-ish. (Just don't do any filing until you really know what you're doing - and use the proper sized tools to avoid rounding or stripping screws/bolts ie don't do anything that's non-reversible and use a cloth to cover the wooden parts of the guitar so that if your screwdriver slips you wont scratch it)
Also its unlikely to be to do with the nut since the nut only is "in play" when you play an open string.
