I dont believe it - the BBC seem to have removed the listen again facility for most music shows. It is only available in the UK. Bummer.

They dont seem to have removed talk shows or live shows, just listen again music shows. does anyone know a way around it ...??

Are you sure, BBC Radio 1 listen again is working as normal for me. All that has seemed to have changed is the i-player graphics.
i agree though it would be a disaster for it to disappear from Irish shores.

Dont panic Mr Manwaring, I suspect all is OK at the Beeb ......................

Well, at least it seems to be OK on BBC Radio Two > Listen again + Bo Diddley = Great :)

Hmm that's odd, it seems to be working today. Tried to listen to Mark Lamarr yesterday and the new iPlayer appeared saying it was not possible to play it, one of the reasons being because i was outside the UK

Maybe it was a temporary glitch while they're migrating to their new iPlayer.
    Phew !

they've taken the 5 and 15 minute skip forward options away, and tweaked the look and feel. other than that it's good to go.
I'd be very upset if they limited it to the UK.

Speaking of iplayer I never tried it before now (no need for radio) but when I tried tv nothing works. Is it a UK ip thing?

    Mike.

I am getting a message telling me to try later but I usually get a message to say it is blocked.

This better not be the case.

I feel a harrumph coming along shortly.

iplayer tv never worked outside the UK, nor do they want it to.
it'd be way too expensive in terms of bandwidth. I hope that the much smaller demands for radio mean they will keep it (radio) open.

it's based on your ip - if you have an irish one it'll just fail with one of various messages, usually a variant on "this content is not available in your territory"

as of this morning iplayer radio is working and I definitely show up as irish.

What will a certain Irish presenter do without Chris Moyles to rob from listen to? :D

    Careful now. ;)

What will a certain Irish presenter do without Chris Moyles to listen to? biggrin.gif

Without nameing and shameing their would be more than one Irish DJ in a pickle without Moyles material:pac:Then again if it improves the output here is it actually a bad thing??
As music4, the jingle company responsible for both Moyles and other mid morning DJ' s jingle packages say themselves on their site:
It's no secret that (a certain mid morning show) is a fan of our Chris Moyles jingles and our brief was to create a theme and idents that captured the spirit of the Moyles jingles without being a straight copy of them.

The new i-player is actually a lot more user friendly than the previous version as the 5 and 15 minute skip ahead functions have been replaced with a scrollable timeline so you can now fast forward to specific bits in the show.

Yes it is...if they haven't the talent and originality to get by in the big bad world of broadcasting without hanging on the coattails of an established and well liked jock on another frequency then they shouldn't be on the airwaves.

    Back on topic: NOOOOOOOoooooooooooo......!

it is - I'm just finished listening to Chris Moyles show from this morning on it.
    nice one bbc!

Simple solution to that, use a UK-based internet proxy server (plenty of them!) the BBC site will recognise the UKIP of the proxy server whilst not being able to "see" your eircom, perlico, chorus, smart etc etc IP address.

U105 also restrict listen live access on their website and ask for a UK postcode.

Easy way around it... Copy and paste the one in the pop up box which opens looking for the UK postcode! Job done! :D

BT7 1EB always works in that case (UTV's own postcode!)

Listen again seems to be hit and miss, for instance, Wogan works, Chris Moyles works, Alex Lester doesn't. (its actually working the old way, if you still have the links to it) So it looks like they are making the most popular programmes available whilst those not so popular are waiting in line.

Aaarrgh why did they do this? Im guessing something to do with music royalties. I suppose the Moylse Podcast will have to do for now.

I don't understand what the problem is - you go to the individual show's page, and then click on "listen to the latest show". I listen to Chris Moyles every day in Galway.

BTW, have a guess who owns a large share in music4.
