Celebs need only apply - no jocks required

It's been happening over a period of time now. The "jock" is becoming more and more a thing of the past. It seems celebrity status is now the key to landing that position on mainstream radio. I could not belive my ears this morning when I was told not 1 but 5 different so called celebs are replacing Ian Dempsey next week including A Brunker and Lucy Kennedy. Later on in the summer Caroline Moniahan is replacing Colm and Jim Jim.

Former TD, Senator's and Panto Actresses seem to do the filling in on Newstalk.

So where does this leave the Ordinary but yet individual who should be filling in shoes, boots etc, the Jock?????

That's why I'm getting more and more acustomed to my ipod.

They did that last year, they had the likes of Neil Delamere and such (cannot remember who else) on for the week, and it was quite good actually...

Its called networking lads, who do you think is at all these "parties" every night ?

Pick up any of the Sunday papers, look at any of the social scene collage of pictures
Same old faces in different places. What do they talk about and why are they there???

    Now go figure boys.

The above-mentioned 'celebs' are pretty talentless. I vote with my dial. They can network away all they want - so long as the advertisers realise that they haven't a hope of reaching me and my likes through that drivel.

Unfortunately Topsie, they reach a lot of people not as discerning as your good self.

It would be like if Mr Sarkozy brought his wife over to visit Ireland with him.

Who do you think would get most print space/air time more reportage????

The President of France or a talentless clothes horse....????

People like us will just have to rise above all this;)

So next year when Ian Dempsey or George Hook goes on holiers, Mr Sarkozy will be standing in for them???

Listening to it this morning ... Trevor Keegan is in. Although I'm not exactly sure who he is, he's doing a very good job.

Took me a while to work out who is Trevor until I heard Gift Grub sketch and they had Blathenaid from the Afternoon show asking Trevor for some questions for their quiz...
I really don't like the "celeb" presenters...bring back Tom Dunne!!!
