I've a 32' SANYO 'HD-Ready' TV. It's got component and HDMI as well as about 4 scart.

Plug in a PS3, first time ever plugging anything into the HDMI port, go to the correct channel. Sound comes out fine, no picture. Go to the menu to fiddle around with picture settings, says something like "3024x @ 0hz". Can't do anything to change it.

Is it faulty or whats the craic?

Was your PS3 previously connected to a 1080p TV? It sounds like the ps3 is just sending a video signal the TV doesn't recognise. Best thing might be to turn the ps3 off (leave TV on and connected), then press and hold the power button on the ps3 untill you hear two beeps, that will reset it's display settings and it should detect settings suitable for your tv.
