Sound problem with DTT trial box connected via HDMI?

As title says, problem with sound via HDMI connection. Always used component connections on the box up to now with my old TV. It was fine then. Bought new TV (Sony W4000), connected box up via HDMI.

Picture is fine, but the sound keeps going on and off in a regular pattern.. 1 second on, 1 second off, as regular as a clock! Other equipment connected via HDMI has no problem. Any ideas?

    Try a other HDMI socket.

Tried all 3 HDMI sockets on the TV and tried a different cable as well. Same result: sound going on and off in a regular pattern. Picture fine. Must be a problem with the box..

Have DVD player and DVD recorder connected by HDMI. They are unaffected.

Sounds like some sort of conflict between the box and the Sony (a known bug by the way with the sattelite equivelant of the same box).

There is an optical out on that box as well which you could try. Is it on every channel ? Try resetting the box. Default Setting (password 0000) and then rescanning for channels. See if that helps.....

Otherwise you'll have to use the component or scart.

Thanks for that STB! Will try later. Just to confirm, the box is a Humax HDCI 2000T.

Yes thats the box I was referring to. The version without the T is the satellite version which have known bugs with the HDMI to certain TVs.

Is a scart cable connected into that Humax box at the same time as the HDMI cable ? If so that could also be your problem.

No. Definitely just HDMI on it's own. Will try a default reset later.

STB, tried the default setting and started again, no change :(. Would there be any patch/program to download via the RS232 or USB port to fix this problem?

I only downloaded one patch, and that was a couple of months ago. The only sound issue I have is very, very slight crackling on one channel. (Setanta)
