Heard Manny on Newstalk radio last night. Offtopic he was asked how Lee is shaping up. He went on to say they approached Vera AGAIN and he wouldn't (or his people wouldn't) agree to the rematch. So they are going back offering a quarter of a million $ for the rematch before the year is out!

Lee needn't bother offering Crazy money for a rematch. After all, David Haye never rematched Thompson and hey presto David is the greatest man in the heavyweight division ever.

They were trying to have the rematch for Andy's fight in the US on the 8th August after he fights in Limerick tomorrow week, but Vera is looking for silly money for it, having already turned down $200k as his share, which was many times the purse on offer to Andy.

Vera seems to be either looking for a huge payday, or holding out on the rematch idea in case Andy makes it big and then pushing for a rematch then to cash in on Andy Lee.

Mind you if he does get a bigger offer plus his expenses, don't be surprised to see him in the other corner come the 8th August.

As I was saying, albeit in a snide fashion, he doesn't actually HAVE to fight Vera again, especially where the guy is looking for RIDICULOUS MONEY. Better to just let it go, and push on regardless. It hurts, but Haye has shown you can shirk obligations and still have a network sucking on your Johnson. People will always believe spin. In Lees case, its not Spin, its the truth. And that will do just fine. If Vera wants silly money then to hell with him.

The rematch was down for 25th July but Vera was never up for it. So the fight
back in Limerick came up for thr 19th instead and they'll roll with the 8th August depending on next week as there's no oponent set yet

No he doesn't HAVE to fight Vera but he WANTS to . More of a case of getting the monkey off his back and saking off the cobwebs of his first defeat

Didn't seem to bother Haye. Haye lost to Thompson and got floored by Mock- now David is the man to avoid at 200+

Maybe Andy needs to attend some Kelly Pavlik fights and tell everyone that Pavlik ain't sh!T.:D:D:D:D:D

3 weeks seems a very short time to take on another significant bout after what will probably be a tough fight against Gibbs. Cant wait to see the card next week. Looks to have the most competitive opponents in a while.
Probably too late now, but was Lee-Gibbs considered for the poll?

Agreed about the 3 weeks being way too short a time. Its going back to what was happening last year when his fights were all on top of one another. Kind of like the Vera fight, he had another 2 fights scheduled for about 6/8 weeks after. So thats like fighting in one and thinking of another while in the ring!!!!
