I suggest you ring around and find a gp that will take you on.

    Try DDoc- on 1850 22 44 77

They will either be able to advise you of a local GP that can assist, or offer you an out-of-hours appointment (up to 10PM) in a number of different centres around Dublin for absolute emergencies.

its too late once the spots appear, in fact the cantagious period usually has passed after a week of teh spots

It's cantagious 1 - 3 days before the spots appear and up until they all scab over.

Get it looked into by a doc ASAP. If you're young, chicken pox ain't too bad, but can be fairly bad the older you get!

Doesnt it generate as shingles or something as an adult?
I got it in college. Was sick as a dog for about 2 months and couldnt do anything at all towards college work.
    Well.... thats my excuse.
    And countdown was on too.

recently had this in my twenties so i can share my knowledge

i never had chicken pox before as urself, shingles can form after you had chicken pox a first time since the herpes virus is asleep in the nerves ..

vaccine now is pointless since you should have done it way before,if you got the virus ,it takes 20 days to show up

the contagious period is from 10 days before any spots appear ( the incubation period is 20 days but if i remember readin correctly , its contagious after the first 10 days ) .
i was bitten by my nephew  during his incubation period when i got it so it was caused by his saliva. anyway at ur stage since he already has the spots, the only thing u can do is stay away, avoid using the same things ,so watch out for stuff like that. the spots are no longer contagious once the crust forms which is about 10 days after they firstly appeared

main thing you can do is go to ur doc , he wont know if u have it until you show ur first sintoms like a temperature or muscular/ back pain, then you should ask about some anti viral drug ( i think acyclovir is the name) which if taken in the early stages can reduce the impact of the spots. you literally should take this as soon as u have the first syntoms , cos if u dont its too late

if thats the case then, all you can do is stock up on calamine lotion and ask for anti histamine drug to reduce the itchyness, which is what i ended up doin..
i also used clay on them to help them dry out faster

best of luck anyway, hope u dont get it as its an horrible experience

Another tip for chicken pox is to put a handful of bread soda in your bath - it takes a lot of the itch away :)
