DVBviewer - I'm very impressed

I've spent a few weeks now setting up my HTPC to my liking and I'd just like to share my experience.

    I have a Terratec Cinergy DVB-S2 card.

I tried several applications GBPVR, MediaPortal, the Terratec ... etc.

The best s/w I found was DVBviewer with CoreAVC decoders for HD. It was a piece of cake to get all the channels I wanted (ITV HD, BBC HD ...). Also, all the actions required to control DVBviewer can be "learned" against my Vista MCE remote control. So Play, Pause, Fwd, Rwd ... etc are in the same location on my remote when using DVBviewer to watch satellite channels or when using MCE to watch movies or recored TV.

    A very useful page:

This allows you to put a shortcut in the MCE menu to DVBviewer, so now my HTPC is much more like a PVR completely controllable from my remote and no need to ever use the keyboard or to see the windows desktop.
