Dundrum and Cineworld are the only ones capable of projecting in 3D as far as I know.

Dun Laoighaire IMC has loads of digital screens: at least three or four. Saw Beowulf 3d there and a digital print of Kung Fu Panda this afternoon. Makes a huge difference: more cinemas should really get on it, the digital looks fantastic.

Movies @ Swords (Pavillions) are apperantly doing it in 3d also. oes anyone know if they take the glasses off you at the end?

They don't take the glasses off you.

I know Dundrum (and presume) Swords were showing it in 3D, but i'm not sure how long that will be for, could have ended its 3D run.

    It's still in Cineworld.

I saw it last week, it's quite good (story is pants, 3D is always an experience)

They don't take the glasses off you, but what's the point in keeping them?

Yeah... people taking the glasses away with them is probably one of the reasons the cost of the tickets is so much higher...

It serves no point. There's a box by the entrance so you can drop them back on the way out... at least there was in Cineworld.

    Absolute bull crap.

They could charge seperately for the glasses instead of adding them to the price of the ticket.
That way, you could keep the glasses and bring them again the next time.
It is profiteering, plain and simple. By having it included in the price, there is no incentive to give the glasses back/keep them for reuse.

We now have 4 pairs of 3D specs, from beowulf and now Journey. Why could I not re-use the glasses I have for a reduced ticket price?

But you're not reusing the glasses... you seem to be stockpiling them for some unknown reason. Where do you think the money comes from to replace them? The cost has to be factored into the ticket price as some people are odd and will take something just because they can.

I agree, why on earth would anyway want to keep oversized novelty 3D glasses...

Not that it really matters, cause it's included in the Unlimited Card anyway.

(also as the packaging says - the can't be used as sunglasses etc.)

How much is a ticket to a 3D film in Dublin anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

    €15.50 I think.

    €15.50 I think.

    Yeah, it's pricey!

Anyone know what the next 3d film out.

I keep thinking it was Space Chimps, but it was that other trailer with the flies going to space?

Or something, seemed odd both animations having a going to space theme.

I got distracted by the monkies chimps

    15.50?

I paid about e12 for two VIP tickets. The film still wasn't worth it!

I'm just back from Berlin and I saw African Adventure in 3D on IMAX over there. As a side point, it only cost about e8.50!

Ive seen two 3D movies now, Journey to The Center of The Earth 3D in Cineworld & African Adventure in 3DIMAX Berlin.

Seeing a 3D movie on an Imax screen makes it much much much much better. Even though African Adventure was really crap and only 40 minutes long, I still enjoyed it more.

When I saw Journey 3D in Cineworld, my main problem with it was that I could see the edges of the screen in my peripheral vision, thus ruining the illusion. To get the full effect, you need a gigantic screen.

    Anyone else agree ?

Yeah, I saw Polar Express on IMAX 3D a few years back, on a massive screen - which makes a big difference.

Sit closer to the screen :)

Yep. I agree completely. The small screen did limit the 3D effect a lot. It makes it feel like your looking inside someones window. I must sit closer to the front next time so that it better fills my field of vision.

That 'Fly Me to the Moon' film looks horrific... all those worms jumping out of the screen at you? urgh... creepy sh*t!

Seems to be getting good reviews - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486321/

Sounds like a nice twist on the moon landing, only getting a release over here for October :pac:
