Hey, has anyone heard how this is going to work? Is the BitBuzz WiFi going to just recognise my iPhone or will I need to register?

I just tried this at a Bitbuzz location. The gateway page that loads automatically in Safari has an option for "O2 iPhone users". This takes you to a page asking for your mobile number, which has a "register your device" link.

Problem is I tried to register and it didn't allow me (on 3G iPhone) - says that it could take up to 24 hours for new subscribers to be registered. Obviously I only bought the iPhone this morning, so I'll try again tomorrow or Monday.

    Seems simple enough though.

I asked in an O2 store on Grafton St yesterday and after much confusion, they had never heard of the wi-fi deal so tried to convince me that my 1 GB download was all there was, the assistant went off (to another store) to ask about it and when he came back he told me told the service had not been rolled out yet.

Considering BitBuzz have about 3 WiFi spots nationwide, it's pretty worthless. Where I am in Limerick or Clonmel, there's none in range of the City Center in Limerick (closest one is Delish, Thomas St, which is a good 100metres from O'Connell St, at least) and there's only 5 in total.

Dublin will probably have decent enough coverage, as they have 95 out of a total of 152 nationwide.

a few more than 3 as you mention later in your post :) they are nicely scattered around dublin and i used them a fair bit, will be well handy for meeting and handy if you want somewhere to grab a coffee and catch up with email or anything else you can on the new iPhone

Yeah, I know there's more than 3. Bit of sarcasm, as there may as well be 3 for all the good the locations do me. :)

All those locations are at least 1km from each other too. Quite pointless. If they were all central, at least you'd have good coverage in one area, rather than bad coverage in 5 areas.

Where and How you was able to get it? 'coz iPHONE isn't in any shop, i put my self in waiting list.
I dont believe O2 or The Carphone Warehouse was sale them directly to costumers at all. People all the time is asking but nobody seen them in shops non a min.

I don't know of any costumers who got the iPhone. I think all the make up artists and grips got there first.

    Pretty sure it's like that.
The same like with "ticketmaster" tickets - unreally solded out, just after couple of days you can find them on eBay 3x as tickets price.

Have a look on Chris Rock 50eur ticket!!!

    Hate 'em all
