Waste Oil Heaters and Boilers

    Hi all. I have heard that waste oil (car engine oil, ATF oil ect) can be burned in a similar fashion to normal diesel heating oil. Does anyone have any experience with these type of heaters/boilers? if this is off topic for here mods feel free to move it.

    A company I worked for a few years ago had one for space heating, it did not heat water just air, it was pretty good but hard to light. However I think a permit is required to burn waste oil, could be corrected on that though.

    i have made a waste oil burner that burns every oil except petrol
    i use it to heat my house an all my hot water
    it uses around 11/2 -2 litres of oil an hour , we are very pleased with it .
    all i have to do every day is clean out the ashes , it takes about 10 minutes an away it goes for the rest of the day
    it heats 15 radiators an keeps 8 of us in hot water all day
