    hi
does anyone know how to change from a us to uk keyboard. The '@' is mixed up with the " key as an example.Im attempting a bit of C++ programming and loads of other keys are all over the shop.

I have gone into regional settings and also into the keyboard settings in the control panel and changed every to the correct region. Its seriously starting to do my head in!!

    Thanks in advance

What OS are you using? If it's Vista search for 'regional and language options' and open the tab 'keyboards and languages'.

Have you got UK as an option in the regional settings??

    Check out these links:

US keyboard layouts are superior in every way!

as for physical keyboard - is the keyboard UK or US?

anyway under XP go the regional settings and under the languages tab select Details...

now select Add.. and now simply choose the English(UK) layout. That adds the UK option to your main dropdown from the languages tab, now its just a matter of selecting it. You should be sorted after that.

    Got it...

by going into regional and selecting uk only affects the language!
I had to go and edit the registry and select the keyboard layout settings for ireland..all keys are where they should be now..

    1)run RegEdit
2)Then this is the filepath---HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\keyboard layouts
3)all folders are numbered(named like0001041)click on them to find the one for ireland which is 00001809
