    Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me with the setup of a Dual monitor on my system? I have a ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro
    HDI to VGA converter
    VGA splitter or Y cable
    Windows XP
Ive plugged it all in and have successfully got both to display '1' screen, But what i want is an extended desktop.
    i.e.
    Screen 1 (Main Screen)
    Screen 2 (Extended Screen)

Its looks simple enough in the settings of Display manager, and or Catalyst Display manager, but Screen 2 is just a duplicate of screen 1
When I try to enable screen 2 as extended it just wont work and does not give an error
When I click identify '1' appears on both

    Any ideas would be appreciated
    ta

It's because you are using a Y splitter. You need to have each monitor pugged into the seperate video out's on the card.

assuming this is your card you need to plug each monitor into its own plug - preferably, monitor one into the DVI, monitor two into the VGA. or vice versa. Then you need to go into your ATI control panel and change the multi-display setting to extend the desktop instead of having 2 seperate screens (or 2 duplicate "1" screens)

ATI use the term "Extend" to duplicate the the first screen but "Horozontal Stretch" to extend it to the second monitor (one large screen)

I use ultramon for dual monitors. Gives you plenty of options and an easily disable/enable different monitors.
