BluRay Audio Problems

    Hi,

Tried out a bluray on my PS3 for the first time last night. Everything was fine except I could hear any speech on the movie. I could hear music and background noise, no speech though. I have a 32' tevion with hdmi input, the DVD was Eastern Promises. Checked all the settings but no luck. I'm probably missing something really obvious here , anyone any suggestions? Can I ask xtravision for a refund of my fiver? :)

Switched over to scart connection and the audio was fine.

    Cheers...

Are you using the TV for sound too? If so, is the sound going through HDMI or optical?

To be honest, it sounds like you have your PS3 outputting surround sound, while you're listening to it through stereo, so you're not getting all the channels. Have you tried changing your PS3 to output only in stereo?

yep, using telly for sound as well. Using hdmi cable from ps3 to telly has worked fine for games, DVD, divx. Only ever seen this problem with the bluray. Will check changing audio to stereo...

Read somewhere (think it was avforum) that if you press the triangle buttom during playback you get the option of increasing the ps3 volume output and this makes a big difference.

It's possible that your television doesn't fully support the different HD audio codecs on the blu-ray. Setting it to output standard-def audio may solve the problem...

Got around the problem. Whenever I switch from using scart devices like sky to hdmi on the ps3 I have to switch on and off the telly to get the sound to work properly. A bit annoying but at least I know how to get around my audio problems.... :)
