A couple of questions, I am looking to buy a new kingsize bed, and I want to know what brands people recommend. Also does anone know a place in Northern Ireland where they can be bought, as with the the strength of the euro, I presume it must be cheaper to buy it up there. Any good websites? thanks

Hi there, do lots of shopping around and compare prices for the same bed in various shops. Test them out! Its the only way to know what suits you. I did this then looked online for the bed I wanted. e1350 cheapest shop price, got it for e1100 online including delivery from mattress.ie (if I'm allowed name websites, not sure). Good luck!

we're currently checking around for the same and we've been recommended beds.ie (like below not sure if we're allowed mention the website!) by a few people. theres a type of mattress on it called memory foam (i think its called the royale) which is supposed to be brilliant. apparently they deliever free the day after.

Possibly not convenient for you - but got a gorgeous king size bed in Cedarwood in New Ross. It was approx E900 for king size bed, 2 x lockers, chest of drawers, mirror. It was all oak I think.

It's gorgeous, and really well made and have had loads of compliments as its really neat and modern. A friend of mine actually went and bought the same set!

i recently bought bed from HN and i seed many irish and us and uk based web sites but i think i would never buy without feeling it i mean its not a tv you just watch its bed you sped lots of time on it and size does matter,
every one have their own opinion. in my experience i kept paper with me so i can compare price. so as some one said have look in shop and if you like one take note of price and most of these places can bargain on price ;)
then you can have look on web.
    and good luck.

Just a tip for anyone buying beds - not all stores give the different sizes the same names. "Standard" for Ireland is double = 4'6", king = 5', superking = 6', but that doesn't follow in all shops so make sure you know what you're being offered. And if you're tempted by a 6' bed, make sure there's somewhere in your area that sells bedlinen and duvets for it - they can be difficult to get in some parts of the country.

Check if you like the memoryfoam mattress - my MIL loves hers, but hubby doesn't like it as much as 'old mattress'. Worth trying out before you invest.

I'm looking into getting a 6' bed too.
Don't really fancy ordering off a site as i'd like to do some testing myself before i buy it.
I'll check out clerys though and try out a few of their beds.
    Any other ideas?

Not sure what all the fuss is about for beds.ie- they are €300 dearer than Larry O'Keeffe Furniture in Clonmel for the particular wooden framed bed I am buying at the moment.

I think you just need to decide on what you want, get the exact name/ code of the product and search online and make a few phone calls to furniture stores around the country too- surprisingly I have found that online is not always the cheapest.

That sounds like a pretty good idea really.

Clonmel is a bit of a trek to try out beds, but worth giving them a call to see if they have a bed that i liked for cheaper.

hey... yeah i would definately shop saround cos theres some great reductions in furniture shops with some great mattresses, i was convinced i wanted a pocket sprung memory foam but when i tried and tested them all i fell in love with an even softer one so it does pay to look around, the only hard thing is wanting it now, good luck
