I am going into 2nd year next year. I lived in Corrib Village last year. For next year, me and 3 for my friends plan to get a house. Any idea where we can get a place, house or apartment, thats in a good student area. Close to college and town would be ideal.

Loads of ads in the advertiser now. Going to ring a few numbers monday and hopefully go down to view later next week.

Almost too many especially when you have to pick your way through the professionals only ones. Although I think you're a mature student (?) so less of a problem.

postgrad-im only 22!yea i know what you mean though, but since i want a quiet pad i may be able to go in with 'professionals'.a lot of places are telling me to ring back in a month which is annoying.will prolly pay for a few extra wks so i can move my stuff in and get used to galway.

I know of all the places to look (ie. the advertiser, daft etc.) but mainly what I want to know what are the best areas to live in, lots of students, able to have parties, you know the typical student life!

Sorry about that. But its a lot easier to get a decent place at 22 but then again I just got accomadation sorted. :D Had to pay for August's rent but it was so cheap(and better than most of the other places going for anywhere near the same price) it works out cheaper over the year than from september to may somewhere else.

    As ive posted there:
Places to look out for are:
    Prospect hill
    Bohermore
    Newcastle
    Shantalla
Dominic street (if you havn't got a car)
    Foster Street

    Foster Court
    Corrib Park
    Moyola park
Ardilan road (although I believe the places in there arnt the best, from my experience)
    Cill ard
Dun, Gort and cuirt na coiribe (Student accomodation)

Theres a decent list. Quoted from Black Knight in an earlier thread on this subject. And remember google maps is your friend if you want to know where somewhere is in Galway. http://maps.google.com/ in case your lazy :p

Ya I know about all them places but what I want is one which has lots of students living there because I already checked out a few places (in moyola and greenfields) and they told us the estates mostly had families living in them and certainly wouldnt allow to get up to much when living there!!

nice one where abouts are you-much of a walk like?op i don't think anyone is going to advertise their property as a party pad!

You're not supposed to but that shouldnt stop you. :D But if you look for ads which say 'suit student' or such thats usually a decent bet.
