anyone any dealings with this shop,i was enquiring about a standard gibson from them and they quoted me 1900euros which is cheaper than thomann and gak.co.uk(which i never saw in ireland before)there other guitars seem very competitive as well, thinking of heading up for a visit(45mins from dublin)

    Is this Danny Hughes' place?
If so it cetainly used to be a great place to go and get a bargain. I bought a Les Paul there myself about 12 years ago now.
Jeez, that guitar almost qualifies as vintage now, I think I'm officially getting old!! :(

A Les Paul Standard is 1750 from Thomann http://www.thomann.de/ie/gibson_lpstdeb_egitarre.htm and 1,822 from Gak, although given the recent quality control in Gibson I would be wary buying one online.

Show me any Irish instrument shop that is cheaper than buying on line. :p

I suppose the only advantage would be to be able to hold the instrument and get the feel of it before buying.

Value for money in Ireland ?............. NEVER !!

To be fair to Beat It Music I looked at their website and they seem open to price matching online prices which is great to see.

the standard i was looking for was tobacco burst, which are dearer than the ebony models,so all in they are around the same price as thomann and gak,and you cant put a price on going in and playing the guitar and taking it away there and then.also they have a good website which is as rare as hens teeth in this country.i talked to a guy called conor on the phone and he could not have been more helpfull.

Website?!?, when I was living up there they didn't even have a sign outside the shop. It used to have a "fancy goods" store at the front that sold buckets and shovels and ice cream cones!! Danny used to always try and sell the poor punters a fiddle when all they wanted was a 99!! It was almost all word of mouth. Then again that was 12 years ago, maybe things have moved on...

Alot of the smaller music shops are amazing these days, theres one in dundrum that beat thoman on prices for a BD-2 and an RV-5 and even delivered to my house... Only took a day to order them in aswell. At this rate we can only hope the rest of the shops will follow suit and make Ireland a musician friendly enviornment!
