ipod wont play purchased songs

All my purchased songs are appearing in library but they wont transfer to my ipod. I am being asked to deauthorise (?). What does this mean? It was fine a few weeks ago.

Authorising in iTunes means entering your iTunes/Apple username and password so that you can comply with the DRM schemes which stop you copying the tracks and passing them around. It's odd that you're being asked to deauthorise, however. Try doing this and then try authorising again. Assuming you didn't purchase the tracks using another account, you shouldn't have this problem.
