I've been told that there's definitely more going on sale in August.

Did they release more tickets just before Electric Picnic in 2007?

There appears to be a ferocious demand for them at the moment.

Yes they did.. and in 2006. I really should make a graph for this because its the same pattern every year.

    Date: 24 Aug 2007 11:24:30 +0100
    You purchased 1 ticket to:
    Electric Picnic
Stradbally Hall, Co Laois, Fri 31 Aug 2007 - Sun 2 Sep 2007
    Seat location: section STAND
    Total Charge: €226.35
    Date: 28 Aug 2006 17:39:50 +0100
    You purchased 1 ticket to:
Electric Picnic - 3 Days Including Camping
    Stradbally Hall, Co Laois, IE
    Friday, 01 September, 2006 - Sunday, 03 September, 2006
    Seat location: section STAND
    Total Charge: EUR180.95

Everyone starts to get jumpy around now with the lack of tickets but in a week or two we'll start to see the "tickets are back on sale" posts showing up here.

They'll only be small batches... 100 or so at a time but it will kickstart people who've been holding onto spares for whatever reason into trying to shift them in case they get stuck with them. Should be easy to get one between the extras appearing on ticketmaster, and the spares on toutless and the EP forum by watching all three semi regularly.

If its bad weather approaching the week of the festival (lets hope not) you can expect any even greater amount of tickets on the resale market.

Yeah, happens every year. It's a nice marketing tactic to heighten scarcity thus make it appear more valuable and increase interest. The other added benefit is that it renders touting useless prior to the start of the festival.
