What am I doing wrong - Surround/LCD Tv sound help required

    HELLO

    I'm hoping someone might be able to give me a pointer

    I bought the following last Thursday from D.I.D

    I currently have SKY Digital (lite) no HD or SKY+

    I have HDMI cable
    I have the red/white audio cables

    DVD and CD sound work majestically

    Just cannot get the the surround to work properly through the TV

    1. I either have picture with a haevy background hissing noise
    or
    2. I can get perfect surround sound but no picture feed from SKY

    What am I doing wrong
    To get the Sky feed to work normally on the TV I press the source button on the Samsung TV remote - the picture comes through EXT.2 mode
    This produces the hissing noise when the Home Theatre is switched to TV mode and the TV sound is swithed off

    If I change the source mode on the TV - I lose the Sky picture but get perfect surround sound from whatever programme is on ???

    CONFUSED and probably stupid

    Can you explain your cabling setup in more detail.
    HDMI cable from Panasonic SS System to Samsung TV?
    Sky box connected by SCART to TV?
    RCA (red, white) cables from TV to Panasonic SS System?
    OR
    RCA (red, white) cables from Sky to Panasonic SS System?

    Set Up at the moment
    HDMI from Samsung TV to Panasonic Surround Sound
    Sky Box connected via Scart to Samsung TV
    RCA (Red/White audio cable) coonnected from Panasonic Surround to Sky Box

    hey Jacky, I have asimilar set up with ntl and a philips lcd and panasonic suround sound.

    My set up is the same as urs cable wise, NTL audi out to audio in on the panasonic dvd player, scart then from ntl to tv and hd cable from dvd to dvd.

    When we want surround sound while watching the tv, we mute the tv and put the panasonic to aux and it works perfectly. We had to mess with the settings while using the manual but trial and error we got it working perfectly.
