    Evening all

I am looking to see if there are any free services available.. my friend really needs to speak with someone and is also low on cash...

Brief history.. he was married then wife screwed him for every penny he had drank it and took drugs and then ripped him off and threw him out of HIS house.. they seperated and SHE got the house.... He was too weak to fight...

Next he hooked up with other girl years later... who got pregnant... had the baby he was tru it all with her and in delivery room and then a few months later he finds out that the baby was not his!!!! She was also quite abusive in the relationship..

He has now met a new girl who is great and loves him and he loves her.. but he knows he has to face the above before he can start properly being with this new girl..

    Any help/advice appreciated..
    thanks
    x

Is he employed at the moment? Cos I know that alot of companies now provide several free counselling sessions for their employees...

Other than that all I could suggest would be a break away for him and her. He's been through so much. Maybe 3rd time lucky, he's found the girl of his dreams? Plus he has you as a friend.

    Hope everything works out!

There used to be a service on Meath Street New Day Counselling Service who worked on a scaling scale so dependent on your means it could just be a few euro per session. Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

All HSE psychology services are free.
All HSE psychiatry services are free. Despite the impression that people have, 'psychiatry' = mental health services, so includes many services other than medication. There are mental health community nurses, mental health social workers, mental health occupational therapists, mental health dieticians, family therapists, cbt therapists, psychologists, counsellors, psychanalysts etc. There are InPatient, Out Patient and Day Patient Services. There are Day Hospitals, Hostals, Day Centres, and weekly group.

Get him to ask his GP for a referral.

    Hope this helps

There are several low costs counselling centres which might be able to help. St Catherines is based in Tallagh Village. Living Life is in Dunlaoghaire, and The Carmelite Community Centre on Aungier St, all offer counselling charging a nominal amount.

Really? I was under the impression that NOTHING was free on the HSE unless you have a medical card. And if it is free I bet the waiting list is huge :-(

Depends on the service, with my service just for therapy little or no waiting lists. Pretty much similar with most of the alcohol services as far as I know too. However, there does need to be a substance use issue as well. And of course its free. The clients I see who aren't recieving methadone are often shocked at the end of the first session when I tell them there is no payment.

All HSE 'Mental Health" aka Psychiatry services are free. You don't need a medical card.

I'd say he should be grateful for having been lucky enough to know the truth about the baby earlier rather than later.. and Id also feck the house. It's just a house.. and I'd say to be happy with his new found freedom. Make the most of it. I'd also say to get into something thereputic...turn the anger around and put it into something positive
