    Hi All,

I'm planning on heading inter railing around Eastern Europe at the end of August.

    So far my route looks like this;

    1. Flying into Dubrovnik
    2. Montenegro
    3. Split
    4. Hvar
    5. Ljubljana
    6. Vienna
    7. Budapest
    8. Bratislava
    9. Verona
    10. Lake Garda
    11. Milan

Has anyone got any suggestions; am I leaving out somewhere fab?

Also it looks like I'm going to be going on my own, so if anyone knows of anyone else thats looking for a travel buddy & a bit of craic :-)

    Cheers.

you should also go to Korcula in Croatia. Its another island after Hvar. Its small and only has one hostel but the owner is very friendly and organises nights out for everyone in the hostel......great fun! The route from Split to Hvar to Korcula is very popular so if you are travelling by yourself you will be sure to make friends on the way.

    enjoy your trip!

Me and my mates are also going aroung Europe. Were planning on heading to brussels-berlin-prague-bratislavia-ljubljana-split-Hvar-then flying home from budapest. Any tips on which of these plces will be good. Also with respect to croatia we originally intended to go to the island of Pag(particularly Zrce beach) however couln't find accommodation. We found accom in Hvar so look like we're going to go there. Does anyone know if the nightlife here is as good?

Hey, I'm planning on going interrailing at the end of August too, I'm not sure if I'll be going alone yet as my friends haven't committed themselves to it.

How long are you planning on travelling for? I'm guessing that route would take about two weeks to do?

There is a bar in Hvar called Carpe Diem and a lot of celebrities have been known to party here such as Paris Hilton and Matt Damon. It's a nice cocktail bar but you find a lot of interrailers hanging out there too. Most of the restaurants have beer gardens as well and during summer when Hvar is busy there are boat and beach parties.
Some of the smaller islands around Croatia don't have hostels or hotels. But when you get off your boat local people can offer you rooms in their homes for good prices. It's basically like B&Bs and the Croatians are nice people.
Pricewise i think meals are less than €10 and rooms are about €12 a night.

I'd recommend taking a trip out to Bled when in Ljubljana. Was there for a couple of days in April and it's definitely worth a visit - absolutely spectacular! It's only about a 45 minute drive from Ljubljana and there's more to see there than in the city itself.

Also, are you planning a trip to Venice when in Verona/Lake Garda? I stayed in Verona a couple of years ago and took a day trip to Venice. Well worth it!

Agreed with above, Lake Bled is amazing, was there last year and I'm heading back in September. It's not too far from Ljubljana and to be honest, one or two nights is all you really need in Ljubljana.

How long are you planning on taking to do that route? Weidii above said two weeks, to me it looks more like a month and even that's a busy enough itinerary? You go back on yourself once or twice too, i.e. Dubrovnik->Montenegro->Split and Vienna->Budapest->Bratislava, and then from Bratislava all the way down to Verona is a bit of a trek.

Was just about to mention Bled, just moved onto Serbia from Bled, and it has been the highlight. You have to go. Don't bother with Ljubljana, try go straight to Bled. George Best Hostel is a great place to stay, or Castle hostel 1004.

Just back here having spent 4 days around Lake Bled/Bohinj. Amazing and very refreshing! Would go back in a tick. Ljubljana is also a very nice city despite its small size. Would recommend the Skeleton Bar, the whole city centre, the Castle for the views and Tivoli Park. Would give the city 2 days and at least a week for the rest of the country.

went to this place when we were interrailing and didn't like it one bit. I thought the place was packed with pretentious folk. there's a way cooler place up a hill somewhere can't remember where exactly but it's got an outdoor pool in it and everything. very nice and a lot more younger laid back people up for having good fun.

Would also recommend the George Best (also known as Bled Backpacker's Rooms), stayed there last year and had a great time. I'll be staying in the same hostel this year too.
