    Hey,

I'm buying a mac in the U.S in 2 weeks(macbook 2.4ghz, 2gb 13.3, white, you assume the rest 'cause of the limited options fo 760e(refurb) )

Think the price makes it worth it, anyone disagree??

My question is, whats the story with the power-brick, Does it come with plug adapters for use in ireland or do i gotta get 1 seperate??

    Thanks in advance

    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/M8794G/B

Bit pricey, but I saved alot buying my mac in $ anyway :)

    hope this helps

OK, Well i should have mentioned, I have a wall charger for my ipod. Will the irish connector from this charger work with the power-brick??

    No problem.

Jesus man I'm afraid I have no idea about that one now! Sorry :( It wouldnt be any harm having the plug kit, never know where you might be travelling to :)

Yeah it will, you can also buy those plug ends on ebay for a couple of euro.
I got my macbook in ny and picked one up for 3/4euro on ebay but at first used the plug off the ipod charger. Hope this helps.:pac:

...if customs stop you you'll be looking at irish vat and customs duty so that'll be approx 30% so however incredibly unlikely you could be looking at 230 yo yo's on top:eek:

oh..and have you factored in sales tax to that 760?

Kool, What i was thinkin was that i'd have it in a laptop bag, like u said, with charger n accessories etc n stick the resta the stuff, manuals, cd's e.t.c in my main luggage. That sound sensible enuf ya??

Another major question i have. If something goes wrong once i get home(assuming its still in warranty) how do i go about getting it sorted since it was bought in the U.S. Will any apple store take it in to be serviced??

And are refurbs as good as new ones?? Should i be at all worried about it??

Oh ya, The macbook itsself is 700e. I thought the sales tax in CA is around 8.6%(open to correction) which is actually around 780e. Sry, Thought i put 780e originally. My bad

If you get Apple Care, then the coverage is worldwide. For the regular warranty though, I'm unsure.

Not a clue about refurbs never bought one was always afraid about ordering online when i was over there just in case it didn't arrive in time so I bought new in the apple store. Google apple refurbs but i'd assume they'd be same as new. Warranty is valid here, my macbooks superdrive broke and I had it replaced in an apple authorised service centre no bother, there's a good few in the country but sadly no apple stores here:(

normal warranty is worldwide too, if you go through apples t&c it mentions the warranty portable devices(including notebooks:pac:) is covered worldwide

    ...wait...5 weeks=35 days...emmm isn't max stay allowed without visa 30 days???????

And since i'd be ther 5 weeks, wud i be able to get the rebate thing too for the free ipod?? Usually comes 2 weeks after purchase..

Right guys, customs evasion chat ends here. Posts edited etc etc.

    Cheers all

You will get one (iPod charger style) US mains plug that attaches directly to the charger, and one on a flex.

When you get home, cut the US plug on the flex off and attach an Irish mains plug.

If you do find yourself back in the States, you still have the iPod style plug to use with the charger. The charger is world voltage so no worries there.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
